The Eucharistic Lay Visitors at the Church of the Holy Saviour extend the church’s caring presence to those unable to attend services in person. Their ministry includes administering the Reserved Sacrament to parishioners who are at home due to health or personal circumstances. This ministry serves parishioners in their own homes, long-term care facilities, retirement homes, hospices, and hospitals.
The Eucharistic Lay Visitors and the Rector communicate regularly regarding pastoral needs, coordinate support in specific situations, and maintain an updated list of parishioners who wish to receive Communion.
Parishioners and family members are encouraged to notify the Rector or the church office if someone is ill or hospitalized, as hospitals do not automatically share this information with us. However, if hospitalized, please ask the hospital to list the patient as “Church of the Holy Saviour Anglican” in their records.
The names of parishioners who are hospitalized, ill at home, or celebrating special occasions are shared with the Altar Guild Convenor so that memorial flowers may be sent. Special occasion, sympathy, and life event cards are sent by Diane Medcalf.
Jean Jackson, Alison Prittie, and Sue LaFreniere are the Eucharistic Lay Visitors, licensed by the Bishop. They have expressed their gratitude and honour in serving the church in this way.
Many other members of our parish also visit those unable to attend church. Their care is invaluable, and we thank them all for helping to keep our community connected.
