The Altar Guild ensures our worship space is thoughtfully prepared for every service. Our responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and clearing away after services
  • Polishing brass and caring for altar furnishings
  • Washing, repairing, and maintaining the linens
  • Arranging flowers and additional seasonal decorations
  • Preparing the sanctuary for funerals, weddings, and special services

We work in teams, with each team serving for a two-week period every three months. Ideally, we have 6 teams of 4 people (24 volunteers in total)—but we're currently a bit short-handed and would warmly welcome new members who want to lend a hand.

Now that we’re settling into the renovated space, we’re also beginning to assess items in need of repair. For example, some of the altar hangings require needlework to fix loose threads, and we hope to schedule some dedicated work sessions in the coming months.

We would love some volunteers. If you enjoy quiet, behind-the-scenes service this could be a wonderful ministry for you. In addition to needing people for the teams, we have a few special roles that we could use help with. People can be involved in more than one area if they'd like.

Flower Coordinator: Ensure that the dedications are tracked and available for the church bulletin. Co-ordinate flowers with the flower shop.

Flower Delivery Coordinator: After the Sunday service, the flowers are delivered to members of the congregation who are unwell or housebound. Each week, we need someone to collect the names and addresses for two members and arrange for delivery drivers.

Flower Deliveries: Drop off the flowers each week to the correct addresses

Holiday decoration co-ordinator: Plan and organize holiday decorating efforts for occasions like Easter and Christmas, working with a team of volunteers.

Holiday decorating: Come and help out with decorating as needed!

Please contact the church office if you would like to be involved.
