Lay Assistants are an important and valued part of our worship at Holy Saviour. They support the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by reading lessons at selected services and assisting the clergy in administering the sacrament - most often by serving the Chalice.
Currently, Holy Saviour has 11 Lay Assistants, who are typically scheduled about twice a month, depending on the needs of the parish.
- Alison Prittie, Co-Ordinator of the Lay Assistants
Our group provides liturgical support to the clergy during BCP and BAS Eucharist services, as well as Mattins, Evensong, and Baptismal services. We lead many of the chants and prayers, assist with the Gospel readings, and, together with the Senior Choir, help bring the liturgy to life through music - including the Psalms, Collects, and the Verses and Responses.
Our members include: Steve Moore, Deb Bailey, Paul Henderson, Jay Baker and David Embury. We would welcome another member to our group! Anyone interested in learning more about this can contact Deb Bailey.
