Wardens’ Announcement re: Church Finances
Good morning. As your wardens, we give thanks to God for the generosity and commitment you continue to show. Holy Saviour is blessed with a welcoming community, a beautiful accessible space, and newcomers who are finding a home here. All of this is a gift of grace that brings us joy, and a sign that the Spirit is at work among us.
Alongside the many blessings we share, there is an area where we need to work together. As you’ve seen in our newsletters since Vestry passed the budget, we have been carrying a growing deficit. At present it is about $26,000, and by year’s end it may rise closer to $30,000.
Our expenses are unfolding just as planned, but our income has been affected by the loss of parking lot revenue and reduced investment interest.
This is a challenge, but it is one we can meet together - with faith and generosity, as we trust in God’s provision.
$30,000 may sound like a large sum - but remember, we are many. Spread across the 188 givers in our parish family, that works out to about $160 each.
This number is meant to show how achievable our goal is when we share it together. It is not a fixed amount we are asking of each person, however we thought it would be helpful to give you an idea of what is needed across the community.
For some, it may be too much to add to their givings for the year, and for others they may be able to give much more than one share.
What matters most is that every gift makes a difference, whatever its size.
Together, each offering - whether greater or smaller - becomes part of the shared generosity that sustains our worship and our service.
If you have questions, please let us know, or email the office. We’ll make questions and answers available, as we’ve done in the past.
You’ll see coloured envelopes today. These are for our special offering so, together, we can conclude this year with energy and joy. Please bring them in next week. If you give another way, like online, please let the office know so we can track this.
As your wardens, we begin by making our own contributions. [each hold up coloured envelope] We invite you to join us, each according to your ability, so that together we can meet this need and continue the good work entrusted to us.
With God’s help, and with each of us together, Holy Saviour will meet this challenge. Thank you.
