Elisa is currently four months into a one-year addiction treatment program at Teen Challenge - Ontario Women's Centre in Aurora. She is a life-long parish member of Holy Saviour and values the friendship and prayer support of our faith family who have helped us through a long and difficult journey.
The tragic loss of her older brother Alex upended our personal world in 2001. Elisa left behind her academic studies, involvement with sports, the arts, and several youth faith groups. The birth of her son Aden in 2013 brought an element of progress and responsibility to her life and he has been instrumental in her healing.
Over the course of the last few years, Elisa has reached out several times to faith-based residential treatment programs, but the intensity and level of commitment remained an obstacle. As a symbol of her determination to follow a new path, she is re-affirming her faith in a ceremony of adult baptism, to be held this weekend in Parry Sound.
Elisa is also participating in a charity golf tournament on August 19 to fundraise for Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge has about ten treatment centres across Canada, from Newfoundland to White Rock, B.C. The organisation serves clients of a broader age range than the original name indicates, and has clients, workers, and volunteers of very diverse ethnic and faith backgrounds. It is largely funded by charity events and community and client volunteer work. Elisa will will take part in the Teen Challenge golf tournament at King's Riding Golf Club, King City (north Toronto). She would welcome sponsorship donations (click here) of any size, and thanks you all for your ongoing prayers and support.
Blessings and gratitude, Duncan M. & family
