Starting November 26th, in cooperation with WKUM, we will again be holding our third annual Food4Kids oatmeal drive, back by popular demand.
Two years ago Church of the Holy Saviour undertook a fundraising initiative to raise 2000
single-serving packages of oatmeal over the time of Advent and we were pleased to exceed
that goal.
Last year, we undertook our second drive of Oatmeal in Advent with a goal of doubling our
efforts to 4000 packages of instant oatmeal. For 4 weeks we watched as the boxes of oatmeal
increased steadily. Through the generosity of parishioners we exceeded our goal and delivered
4575 single-serving packages to Food4Kids just before Christmas.
This year our goal is 6000 packages.
This year with the help of WKUM, we challenge our congregation to continue their
generosity. The single-serving oatmeal packets are the most popular item that Food4Kids delivers to hungry schoolchildren to ensure they have food to eat over the weekends and school holidays. The need is so great that they deliver food parcels to children at every school in every area of Waterloo Region.
The oatmeal will be delivered before the Christmas break. Anything collected after that will be
delivered in early January.
